What is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Sculptra Aesthetic is a collagen stimulator. Collagen stimulators are used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.*

 

How long does it last?

Results last up to 2 years typically. We recommend having yearly maintenance treatments done after that period of time. 

What is it made of and how does it work?

Sculptra is made of PLLA molecules.  Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a collagen stimulator which works with your body within the deep dermis, rather than topically, to help revitalize collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. As the Sculptra Aesthetic PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds. PLLA has been used for over 30 years in cardiac and plastic surgeries. It is a very non reactive molecule that your body responds to by creating collagen. 

When will I see results?

You will see the results of your procedure immediately to the water that is injected with the Sculptra molecules. However, that will go away in about 2-3 days as the water is reabsorbed. Then it will take about 2-3 months to get visible results. It is a gradual process that occurs with repeat treatments, which is why some of our patients are drawn to this product. They do not want to suddenly look different or like they had something done. With this product, most people can tell you look amazing but they can't put their finger on why that is. 

What is the Downtime?

You can return to your normal activities right away. However, you may experience some temporary swelling, redness, pain, bruising, lumps or bumps, itching, and discoloration at the treatment site. Keep in mind that these symptoms are usually temporary, resolving within 1 to 7 days.

Am I a good Candidate?

Sculptra is a good option for almost any age group. It can be used in temples, cheeks, smile lines, and jaw line to correct overall volume loss that is associated with aging. It is perfect for a procedure called the Liquid Facelift that causes all over facial rejuvenation. Anyone wanting full facial rejuvenation or treatment for a specific area, is a great candidate for Sculptra. However, If you are looking for more immediate results a dermal filler or Bellafill may be a better option for you.
